Family Files Suit Over Glenview EMS Response Delay In Death

Man Collapsed While Riding Through Forest Preserve

September 21, 2012

The estate of Bogdan Kaniewski of Cook County filed a wrongful death suit against Glenview and Cook County last week, saying Glenview paramedics took almost an hour to respond to a reported collapse that contributed to a man’s death in a forest preserve last year.

The suit, filed by the estate of Bogdan Kaniewski, is seeking $50,000 in damages from the Cook County Forest Preserve Dist., in excess of $50,000 from Glenview fire and police departments, and a jury trial.

The complaint alleges Kaniewski collapsed at 4:57 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2011 while riding a bicycle with family members in Camp Pine Woods forest preserve near Glenview. Camp Pine Woods is in the Glenview Fire Protection Dist. that extends beyond village borders.
